Baby Photos for our Year Book

As part of Grade 6 Leadership, a yearbook is being created by and for Grade 6 students.  The yearbook students voted to have a few pages dedicated to baby photos.  As a result, we are requesting that you provide a baby photo of your child either by email to clwilson@cbe.ab.ca or a hard copy (no larger than 4” by 6”) by Tuesday, January 21^st.  Please ensure that your child’s name is on the back of the photo or envelope.  If you provide a hard copy, it will be returned to you. 

Please note that if a Consent for CBE Use of Student Information form has not been signed, your child’s picture will not be included in the yearbook. An amendment can to signed for inclusion in the Yearbook only.

Friday, December 6th

Good morning,

Students had a very busy week at Hawkwood School.  They visited the Youthlink Police Interpretive Centre on Monday and majority of students said they really enjoyed the trip.  

Students will be writing their unit test on Evidence & Investigation on Tuesday.  They have received two study guides to help them and please remind your child to bring home their binder/notes.

In Math, we started our last topic for the unit Angles & Polygons.  We will be having a unit test on Wednesday next week.  The topic we just started is investigating angles in quadrilaterals.

In Language Arts, students are continuing their work on Poetry and various types of figures of speech.  They are working on Concrete (picture) poems currently.

Friday, Nov. 29th

Good afternoon,

Students participated in a buddies activity today for our Deck The Halls celebration.  We will be completing and hanging these art projects up in our hallway on Tuesday.  The kids did an excellent job using water colour paints.

Just a friendly reminder that we will be going on our field trip on Monday to the Police Centre.  Please ensure students bring a water bottle, lunch and indoor shoes.  They will be completing their Detective Notebook booklet at the field trip.

Monday, Nov. 25th

Students are starting their In-Line Skating tomorrow and it will continue on Wednesday and Thursday.  They can bring their own helmets to use.

Students are continuing to learn about angles and how to use a protractor in Math.  Reflex angles will be the focus today and tomorrow.

In Language Arts, they will be continuing to learn about different figures of speech and start some poetry work.

Students will be continuing Evidence & Investigation work in Science in preparation for our upcoming field trip next Monday.

Friday, November 15th

As part of our Mental Health block today, students started creating posters showing various emotions that children experience.  The kids did an excellent job this afternoon working on their posters.

We will be starting our unit on Evidence & Investigation next week in Science.  A reminder that we will be going to the Youthlink Police Interpretive Centre on December 2nd.  Please return the field trip forms as soon as possible.

In Math, students are learning to use a protractor and to draw a specific angle.

In Language Arts, we will be starting our Poetry unit on Monday.
